I VISITED WWW.NAVYGETFIT.COM AND THIS LOOKS LIKE FUN, BUT I CAN’T LOG IN. CAN I PARTICIPATE?
This is an Navy Youth Fitness program open to individuals aged 6 and up, who are family members of active duty, National Guard and Reserve members of the armed forces; DoD civilians; retired military members; honorably discharged veterans and military spouses and their family members. Because enrollments will be conducted at Navy base Youth Programs, being on or near an active Navy base is required. If you’re not sure you fall in any of these categories, contact Navy Youth Programs on base to find out. If you are eligible, you’ll have to be enrolled to participate.

HOW DO I GET ENROLLED?
It’s easier than you think! Just visit your local Navy Youth Programs to get enrolled. When you register you’ll get a wallet card to record your username and password and a cool dog tag and chain. All this just for enrolling and making the commitment to Get Up, Get Out, Get Fit!

WHAT INFORMATION WILL I NEED SO I CAN GET ENROLLED?
It’s pretty basic stuff, but here is what you’ll need to know:
  • The Region and the Base you’re affiliated with
  • The Branch of Service of your parent/guardian
  • What grade you’re in at school
  • When your birthday is, including what year you were born
  • Your parent or guardian’s first and last name
  • Your home address and phone number
  • A valid email address – IMPORTANT! We’ll need this so we can send your user name and password if you forget and to notify you as your reach each level and earn your incentives!
  • You’ll have to select your own user name and password, so make it something you can remember easily and write it on the wallet card you’ll receive

IMPORTANT: If you are under 13, you’ll need to have Parental Permission. Get the form filled out ahead of time – just download and print the form out here, or get it from your youth center.

NOW THAT I’M ENROLLED, WHAT DO I DO?
Visit www.navygetfit.com, log in with your user name and password and get started! The How to Play page has more info on how to select your activities and get started. Select activities for your favorites, and when you complete them, log your points and you’ll get closer to reaching the different levels and earning some fun prizes!

WHAT ARE THE LEVELS AND THE PRIZES?
You get points for eating healthy and being active in a variety of ways – from team sports to household chores you can start earning points and achieve the five FitFactor levels. Prizes will be awarded for each level you reach. Some of the prizes include: silicone bracelets, FitFactor dog tags, pedometers, nylon fliers and other items that will help you stay on track to Get Up, Get Out and Get Fit! Check out the Prizes page to see all the prizes.
The FitFactor point levels are arranged like this:
Energy 1000 points
Strength 3000 points
Agility 8000 points
Adventure 15000 points
Endurance 25000 points
Achieve 35,000 Points and FEEL THE POWER!!

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITY CATEGORIES?
When it’s time to select your activities, there are LOTS to choose from! The activity categories are: Navy Wide Activities, Eating Healthy, Individual Activities, Instructional Classes and League Sports. You can even search for a keyword like “soccer” or “dog” and any categories that include these words will appear. Select the activities you’ll be doing and put them in your “Favorites” list for easy access.

I HEARD THERE WILL BE OTHER PRIZE DRAWINGS TOO – WHAT ARE THEY?
Some fun BONUS prizes will be awarded twice monthly to every base in random drawings. You’ll need to have logged 500 points for the previous month to be included. Winners get to choose their prize of either a FitFactor hat or T-shirt (based on availability).

CAN I REMOVE AN ACTIVITY FROM MY FAVORITES?
Sure, it’s easy and the good news is any points you logged and were awarded for that activity are still there!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I REACH A LEVEL?
You'll be congratulated online and prompted to print out that level’s certificate to keep as a proud reminder. Take it with you to Navy Youth Programs to redeem your prize. The FitFactor administrator will have to look up your record to verify you've reached that level. Then you'll be awarded your prize!

HOW FAR BACK CAN POINTS BE LOGGED IN?
Points can be logged in for up to seven days prior to the current date. This 7-day limit gives you some flexibility but also enforces rules of the program and encourages you to log your points as you complete your activities. If you think there is a valid issue or reason to override this, contact your Navy Youth Program and the request can be reviewed and/or forwarded to the program administrator if necessary. Ideally, all points you record are based on actual activities and events that you participated in or did that week. What this means is - No Cheaters Allowed!

ARE THERE LIMITS ON LOGGING POINTS?
It’s easy to earn up to 100 points per day by eating healthy or being active in a variety of ways. Activities are worth either 25 or 50 points and the maximum points you can log per day is 100. If you forget to log something, you can go back up to 7 days, but no further. So, make sure you keep on track and stay current!

CAN I EMAIL QUESTIONS?
Yes, once you are logged in, we’ll know what base you are from, so your local contact info and a link to a feedback email will be available for you. However, we hope you’ll try to find the answer in the FAQs, How to Play, or call or make a visit to your local Navy Youth Programs first. That will get you the fastest answer.

WHAT IF I MOVE OR GET A NEW EMAIL?
Once logged in, you'll be able to access "Your Account" from the "My FitFactor" page to make these types of updates. If you are having difficulty, contact your local Navy Youth Programs and they can assist you. If the result of your move means you need to change your base, however, see the FAQ "What if I PCS?"

CAN I CHANGE MY USER NAME AND PASSWORD?
You can change your password but not your user name. In fact, we encourage you to change your password every so often. If you forget it, you can request it to be emailed to you, but we hope you’ll write it down on your wallet card or in a safe place. If it’s necessary for you to change your user name, you will need to visit Navy Youth Programs and have it done through them.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SOMEONE GETS TO LEVEL FIVE?
Once you reach the ENDURANCE level, you will receive your prize and can continue to be active and log FitFactor points to FEEL THE POWER at 35,000 points!

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REACH 35,000 POINTS?
After you’ve reached 35,000 FitFactor points, you can either continue to set goals and log FitFactor points or you can visit the Navy Youth Programs to disable your current FitFactor account and sign up for a new one in order to be eligible for the FitFactor incentives and prizes!

IS THIS PROGRAM GOING TO END AT THE END OF 2008?
The plan is to keep this program going indefinitely! And the more youth that participate the better!

WHO CAN I CALL FOR HELP?
First, contact your Navy Youth Program. If they are unable to assist, they will contact the Region. If it's a technical issue, it will be forwarded to the program administrator.

WHAT IF I PCS?
No problem! There are two ways to update your FitFactor account. The easiest is to log in and send a Feedback form with your new information and a request to be updated. This will go to your current base FitFactor administrator. The administrator updates the information by logging into the participant database and making the changes. You will now be connected to the NEW base, along with all your points.

The alternate method would be to either request your current administrator to make the changes (in person) when you arrive at your new base. The new administrator must contact the previous base, since the previous administrators are the only ones who can make the changes and update the record.

If the only changes involve an address/phone, etc., and not a base change, you can log into your account and update the basic profile information yourself. See the FAQ on "What if I move or get a new email"?

CAN I LOG IN FROM ANYWHERE OR ONLY FROM MILITARY SITES?
Anywhere you can find a computer with internet access, you can log in. It makes it even easier to log your points!
